Someone cared about my music

And right here, I apologize in advance, but I have to swear a minor expletive..

SHIT man, you're fucking talented.

I mean.. there's a lot happening in your music and it's not something for the typical techno geek preteen simpleton out there, but it's rather more sophisticated and immersive. I was big on the ambient minimalism of the early 90's and on through to the early 2000's. Your material would have fit in beautifully in that timeframe, but I find that music rather timeless anyway.. so it's a mute point.

My love for electronic music spans to almost the very beginning with Tangerine Dream from the late 60s up until the mid-80s after which they lost their relevance for me. Then when the 90's came, and I was floored by ambient Artists like Autechre, Orbital, Pete Namlook, TFSOL, the list goes on, but 2 of my longtime favourites were the immensely talented female dj by the moniker of Neotropic and Richie Hawtin's fantastic Plastikman run (btw, he just released a 30th anniversary edition of his 'Musik' masterpiece and is set to record another project under that moniker very soon).

So yeah, I have a great respect for what you are trying to achieve in your music. The atmosphere is immense and powerful. My only criticism would perhaps be your abrupt lead-in's and fade-outs or the lack thereof. It gives me the impression of a collection of fragmented unfinished ideas rather than polished cohesive works. Mr. Hawtin emphasized this and has stated that the fade-out and silence (and transition) between tracks is just as important as the music itself. Which i tend to agree with. But anyway, you have some wicked tracks and some innovative sounds. I haven't listened to it all yet, but there are some stand-out tracks like Ozen and India, probably because they're longer and more immersive. And many of the smaller snippets could really be flushed out into longer pieces in their own right. So yeah, I'm really impressed.

.

cool. geek girl. intellectual girl. you heard of steve roach? like in 1997? winamp started with SHOUTCAST. i searched on ambient then, since id been listening to the quake soundtrack. i found "cryosleep, zero beat guaranteed". when i was with bella she wanted me to listen to ambient with her, but i wasnt that down anymore. anyway, that radiostation is still available online if you can get winamp up and running. i tried, but it kept glitching all the time. my absolute favourite song was "the space inbetween", it sounded like these huge metal structures? ive been unable to find it later days. deaddreamer, who ive followed since the mid 90s, did 2 modular synth songs back in the days, c-curve - anti-nektar.

its so difficult to find good music online. like if you go to a record store, it is expensive, but after an hour or browsing, youll find a stellar record. or a second hand store, you browse for an hour, maybe try 5 records, of which 3 are really good.

but online, its just a nightmare? like i found this DnB spotify playlist, after having played 67 songs, i found 1 good? thats like... i dunno, 10 hours of shit? that song was rusko - somebody to love, which is stellar though...

anyway, on cryosleep, my fav author was steve roach. ive followed him on bandcamp for years, he still releases stuff, he was even the #1 seller some months ago? and of course, "structures from silence", the track, when no other music works, it still works.

i used to have real nasty war veteran despair, for 20 whole years. seriously, it felt like rape. dont wanna get into sexual stuff, but that what it was like. and 8 hours, often. now after the bloodclot after the third corona vaccine, im healed from it? lol? but i love the ☯️ in everything i think do and exist. everything is as good as it is bad. and ive found in my heart, for 100 bad things to turn to 1 good.

oh. youre old. when i was in my teens and 20s, i liked 35 year old women. but all that attract me now seem to be 60 or even more.

"youre fucking talented"

wow, youre the first one whos ever said that =**)

as for short songs, thats because i started making music mostly when i was at a political radio station. i asked if i could select music? they were like "ok". then i took 1 7 minute song, one 3 minute song, but it was in ogg so that pissed them off (they used mac), and 1 1 minute song. but that was just for DJ-ing. anyway, i got credit there as a music editor, got at most 7 songs each time for like 8 weeks. i just used to lie in bed most of the day listening to my record collection. which is, you guessed it, 99% based on second hand stores.

and yes, i coulda made concept art, like 4/4 all the time. but instead i made radio friendly, in a weird way. i had so much anxiety back then, that i was almost never featured, or featured absolutely last in the program. so i made short songs. and they liked em more.

there was music before that, in the 1950s with aniara, when they didn't use cheap piano copies, but modular synths. they were as big as a house then...

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=modular+synth+performance

dunno what they were called.. theres also elektroniskt i p2, you pretend to not know Swedish, but its a real good show. they can play like 20 minute sotz stuff lol. yes, i do sotz, its black ambient, which you didn't complain about! yay! most just turn off my music after 5 secs and say "ITS DARK!!!".

you actually listened to it? just... wow. last was when i met some Mexican dude in runescape, after listening to 1 single album, he was like "i think evil spirits will eat my soul now". lol.

future sound of London? cool! its darkhalos favourite band. ive followed him almost as long as deaddreamer, since 1996?

https://kirbyufo.com/

he actually saved my life last year when i was coked out on drugs. i was deep into the 5th dimension. if you can, download his modules on scene.org, its my favourites of his music. then L2U is real good, and particle and wave. but you really need amazing headphones or stereo to appreciate his music. and i ruined my ears back in the 90s playing too loud music on complete shit headphones... yes, i even made a fansite to him, travel in time (drunk/high) then check twoforces.livejournal.com

it seems impossible to find ableton music? i realized that years ago. then i got a subscription for youtube.music, i just let it play, then i was writing this awesome essay, and some band like bluie started playing? REAL ableton stuff. could never find the band again...

"rather than polished cohesive works"

lol. you got me. well i did spent a lot of time on the art and music part. at least in the older music before i started with ableton. i even made 2 double albums back in the days. but yeah, i never cut out any songs at all, as soon as id made enough songs ready, i just put them on an album, made some art, and that was that. for negative feedback loop, i was working 4 jobs for free at the same time, and the album art took 3 whole months to make like the album, i was just doodling on these huge a1/a0 papers?

again, for the older stuff, and negative feedback loop too, i spent around 3 months per album making it. id make a song, then listen, then change stuff, then make another song, realize "that needs changing", then really, making a whole album is one of the toughest things there is. its so easy to just release singles.

yeah, as for the bella music (Rhiannon kirin) she complained about my darkness. the ida music (idamo, check out her concept electro opera about me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqHSN2o54CQ its a lot more tracks, but yeah, its pretty dumb music at least her older stuff, you could always order her cd, its only got 1 good track, but its real good, "elvis" https://idamo.webnode.se/news/no-government/)

yeah, anyway. so bella never listened to all the music i made for her. she complained that her stereo broke (lol?) if she tried to even put on 1 track. i used to have buckloads of OCD before. so it got stored in the music. but again, its cool and thanks that you could handle it.

so la belle epoque is like a complete mess. id make songs as quickly as possible. but with the help of synchronicity, many turned out good anyway. but almost all LBE albums, as a whole, are just trash. you liked özen? cool. i call it progressive IDM :) id just follow the synchronicity of the universe, so almost every song (at least before LBE) is in its own genre. my poetry follows the same pattern.

theres also later stuff after bella https://teejay808.bandcamp.com/ and that was just a concept artist name https://tabpmeroyugs.bandcamp.com/album/pleasure-pain-poetry BEWARE, some sexual prowess trash music lol after i jumped the second time.

then yeah on svenskadikter.com/emma is some never music still.

and yes, when i was too high to care last year, 2 weird things happened. i got 55 bitcoins tied to my nanochip (so people on fountain house could flee to mars), then also a 55 song album that idamo made? anyway, you can find it in the 5th dimension, but if youve quit drugs and smoking and drinking, it can be difficult to find. but check bengans record store, its in the genre of dreamstep. called "the middle passage", by? emma Johansson! :)

yes, another highness goodness. this chick who digged me years ago got together with the casanova of fountain house. well, in 2024, they got married! and played some of my songs at the wedding. too sweet. she was called emma, a real talented guitarist.

i also got connected to this artist i hadn't really thought of much through the years, who i knew 20 years ago on deviantart? and she named her firstborn after an artproject i had, what could be better? fuchsia! the most beautiful flower in the whole while world!

oh and check out cousin silas! on bandcamp and facebook. there he has "the cousin silas emporium", i was on some of those compilation albums last year? posted as DKDC / nocturnal lullabies separately.

and check out this, i haven't really cared for bandcamp for years, but its chiptune and metal, very addictive https://masterbootrecord.bandcamp.com/album/interrupt-request

as for the short songs? always when i made music, especially as i ruined my ears in the 90s already, id be so hyped up, so even if a song was only 30 secs, it felt more like 2 mins when i made it. adrenaline. or whatever. what happens when youre supposed to be on stage too.

so yes, i did try to loop some songs or albums? like, almost no one does that. but i love looping songs like 100s or even 1000s of times sometimes, and they all loop so badly? what nvigorating Zodiacal Element Ambient, but still, ableton does a really shitty job of looping songs.

ive also done some research into music quality. if you output at max in ableton, 400khz 32bit, it sounds just like vinyl! even if your soundcard can only handle like 48khz 16-bit. why? if you do 32bit, it never dithers! if you do 24bit, it dithers first in the daw, then when you listen to it! so 32bit is the only way to go. except i never had good upload speeds, so ive only got a few songs at that quality. phoenix cracking software for one.

and yeah, you didn't notice it, but especially LBE and later has horribly shifting sound levels. from -15 to like +10. impossible to listen to for most people. i didn't really care that much since i met bella. and most people still only care about individual tracks.

anyway, my music is like trinkets, mumsbitar. beyond concept art to just something really pretty. to appreciate. not to listen to for a long time. you could loop em. never tried that much though. after im finished i rarely listen to the songs again...

"the fade-out and silence (and transition) between tracks is just as important as the music itself. "

"the notes i can handle no better than any other pianist. but the space between the notes, ah, that is where the music lies!"

well, its sorta amazing that ive managed to make music at all. i know zero music theory, a 100$ and 1 mil $ guitar sound the same to me. but that was limiting in ableton, i dont want to follow "harmony" rules!

and yeah, never heard anyone dancing to my music. maybe özen works there. i had my music on tunecore, but that fucker changed to 50$ per album per month! 99.99% of all musicians dont make a single $ (rather, lots of negative) from music listens! and spotify only pays you if you get more than 1000 listens? wtf? anyway, on tunecore they had some of my songs in like concept stores? that felt neat. got a minor hit with some Donnie ozone sampled song in latin America, 1000 streams, and they payed like 0.2$ instead of 0.01$ in America or 0.0002 like spotify does.

i also tried uploading on jamendo. the song that bella made the lyrics for actually was the most popular. enstöriga enhörningar.

and if you hadn't figured it out, i make all music with the shittiest possible laptop speakers. so when i figured out noise reduction after a few albums, idamo finally started appreciating my music. the earlier ones have iterative grain, but then again, if you listen with shitty speakers, you wont notice that, and soundclouds algorithm shreds sound quality.

i still wish i had all those records from before. on youtube i just listen to mixes all day long. its mostly just the same all the time. i loved changing cds / genres with each hour before. i did finally get a catered playlist, some acoustic covers? oooh. try out jess Greenberg, her early stuff, she turns into a barbie doll later. she had a homepage with mp3s before at least. her older stuff is more emotional, the newer just sounds boring. did try to prove herself by covering jimi Hendrix. especially "get lucky"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbNtB1yLcJA

they say no one can play that good on a acoustic guitar.

anyway, the shitty transitions and silence and that, is because the sound quality on my end is complete trash. and yes, i know zero music theory and my ears dont pick up much soundwaves either.

i was gonna make a proper "healing the vagus nerve" (i make new sounds daily), but ever since i jumped i haven't really felt like doing music, it just turned to trash. the latest albums are ok though, i used "free music no copyright" stuff on youtube, then just read in lyrics to that, and 1 single sample in the beginning. another genre...

but i only did music to impress chicks before, and yeah, the only ones who cared were idamo and bella. bella fell in love with me over "tantra", i played that the first time we met, she said "it sounds like fairies!".

as for "longer pieces", well, listen to the whole album? and if the sound levels fluctuate too much, get foobar2k and apply replay gain. but maybe you do that already. loop the album?

and really, theres so much effort you can put into an album. like just how you put the track order. i did use lots of effort in that in the idamo section of albums. and i used to have 4k album covers, i even made some DVD covers with booklet and poster. for "mars" i spent ages making the album cover, and all thats left now is 320x320 pixels, lol...

"The atmosphere is immense and powerful"

cool! never heard that either :) theyre just cute little nuggets. not meant to enjoy like easy listening but to grab your attention in a radio show :) and yeah, when i finally got featured in elektroniskt i p2, i emailed them like 23 times before they cared? it was during like, uhm, whats the name? well, eventful or whatever... "dramatic", yeah :)

so im mostly inspired by their sotz music, then felicia which is like visor, fairytale music, and they also had jazzradion. but mostly randomness, triangulation of synchronicity of the universe. wow. i feel like shit now. been writing too long. maybe i should... well, can only rest or be on the internet. would be nice to be out in the sunshine. omg, this will be 10 part post...
